About New Mexico Military Institute

Founded in 1891, NMMI is the nation’s only state-supported, co-educational military program serving college preparatory boarding high school and junior college students. With a wide variety of programs from NJCAA Division 1 Athletics to ROTC/ Service Academy options, NMMI caters not only to athletic and educational interests, but to all branches of the military as well. Most notably, students who attend do not have to enlist and there is no military commitment at any time. With an average class size of 16-20 students, high school and college cadets are taught by qualified faculty that hold Master’s and PhD’s. NMMI graduates also prove successful in every field of endeavor whether they choose business, industry, public service, education or careers in the military. Here are some other quick facts about NMMI: • Located in Roswell, New Mexico, NMMI offers a rich history and tradition of educating tomorrow’s leaders through a program of academic excellence, leadership and development, and physical fitness under the motto “Duty, Honor, Achievement.” • Over 96% of NMMI high school graduates and over 88% of NMMI junior college graduates go on to four year colleges. • Academic counselors and teachers provide individual attention to each cadet • The student population at NMMI generally includes cadets from over 45 states and 33 countries. • 95% of NMMI students receive either federal or scholarship assistance. • Excellent facilities including: High/Low Ropes Course, Rappel Tower, Zip Line, Leadership Reaction Course and Paint Ball Course
